Thomas Shaw Obituary

***Please note that there has been a change in time for the services for Thomas. Visitation will now begin at 2 PM and the service will be held at 4 PM***

Thomas J. Shaw, 52, of Harrisville, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026 at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Dina (Baro) Shaw whom he shared 10 years of marriage filled with love, partnership and laughter.  Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Bruce and Sallymae (Canavey) Shaw.

Tommy grew up in Cranston and was a proud graduate of Cranston East High School. He was an avid participant in both their baseball and football programs.  He worked as a driver for FedEx for nearly 30 years, and his co-workers quickly became lifelong friends. An athlete at heart, he also enjoyed fishing and bowling, even having bowled a perfect 300 twice. He was a dedicated Little League coach, and his baseball family meant everything to him.  Tommy loved to travel and he especially loved family trips to Disney World and New Hampshire. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed the banter and heckling he received from all the New England Patriot fans that surrounded him.

Tommy’s life was a testament to his beautiful spirit, his boundless compassion and his unwavering love for his family.  He chose happiness everyday, even despite the physical pain.  He was a dedicated and loving father, a devoted husband and would do anything for those that crossed his path.  There are truly not enough words to convey the love and kindness he displayed every day of his life.

Along with his loving wife, Dina, he is survived by his children, Liam Martin of Providence, and Ryan Shaw of Harrisville; his daughter, Abigail Shaw of Cranston; his aunt and Godmother, Carol Capuano of Cranston; his nieces, Hannah and Kelsey Shaw, both of Warwick; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerry and Lucille Baro of Woonsocket; his sister-in-law who he affectionately called his "sista", Angela Baro of Woonsocket; as well as, several cousins. He was the brother of the late Robert Shaw. He has also taken his place in the hearts of so many more throughout his amazing life.

His funeral will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026 beginning with visitation at 2 PM followed by a service at 4 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Memorial contributions in Tommy's name may be made to the Brown University Health Cancer Institute at the Miriam Hospital, 164 Summit Ave., Third Floor, Providence, RI 02906.
